nouyu is a product in the making. This page explains, in plain terms, what we store about you, why, and how to get it removed. It describes what the site actually does — not what a template says it might.

Who we are

nouyu is an independent project, not yet a company. If you want to reach a person about anything on this page, write to hellonouyu@gmail.com and you will get a human.

When you join the waitlist

We store your email address, your name if you chose to give one (it is optional and it stays optional), and the language you were reading in.

If you set a password, we store it only as a one-way hash (scrypt): nobody, us included, can read it back. It is what lets you sign in from any device.

We also store where you came from: the campaign parameters carried in the link you followed, and the site that referred you. This is how we know which channels bring people here.

If you answered our research study in the same browser, we store the identifier of your answers alongside your email, so we can talk to you later knowing what you told us.

When you answer the research study

We store your answers, the country and region your request came from, your device time zone, and the name of the site that referred you.

We do not store your IP address, and the study loads no third-party scripts at all — no analytics, no pixels, no fonts from anyone else. That is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight.

Your answers are not linked to your name unless you also joined the waitlist from the same browser.

Analytics, and only on this page

The landing page uses Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, and only if you accept it in the banner. Google processes IP addresses. If you decline, no analytics cookie is set and nothing is sent.

The study pages never load it, whatever you choose here. The two surfaces are kept apart on purpose.

Advertising measurement

If you accept the banner, we also use the Meta pixel so we can tell which ads bring people to this page and stop paying for the ones that do not. If you decline, the pixel stays switched off and sends nothing.

When you join the waitlist with the banner accepted, we send Meta a scrambled, one-way version of your email address — never the address itself — along with your IP address, your browser type and the identifiers the pixel set. Meta uses that to tell whether the person who joined is the same one who saw an ad.

We do not store your IP address ourselves. It is passed along in that one request and nowhere else. If you declined the banner, none of this happens — not in your browser and not from our server either.

Cookies and local storage

A language cookie remembers which language you are reading in. It is strictly functional and needs no consent.

Analytics and advertising cookies are set by Google and Meta only after you accept them. Meta’s identify your browser and record which ad you arrived from.

Your browser also keeps your consent choice locally, and — if you start the study — your place in it, so you can come back and continue. That never leaves your device.

Who else handles your data

Supabase stores the database. Resend sends the emails. Vercel hosts the site. Google provides the analytics and Meta the advertising measurement, both only with your consent.

All of them run on servers in the United States, which means your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards those providers publish.

Emails you will get

One welcome email when you join, and news about the beta when there is news. Nothing else, and never to anyone else — your address is not sold, shared or rented.

To stop receiving them, reply to any of them and say so, or write to hellonouyu@gmail.com.

How long we keep it

Your waitlist entry stays until you ask us to remove it, or until the project ends.

Study answers are research data and are kept for the life of the research. They carry no name unless you joined the waitlist too.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also object to us processing it, or ask for it in a portable form.

Write to hellonouyu@gmail.com and we will do it. You do not need to explain why, and you will not have to ask twice.
